Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Pauls Valley Eye Clinic the leading provider of vision care products and services in Pauls Valley.
Dr. Scott Mendell grew up in Loyal, Oklahoma and graduated from Lomega High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Northeastern Oklahoma State University with a bachelors degree in Organismic Biology with a minor in Chemistry. He graduated with honors from the Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in May of 2010. Dr. Mendell practices full scope primary eye care including ocular disease management and performing a variety of ocular laser procedures. He and his wife Dr. Steph currently live in Washington. In his spare time he enjoys playing with his kids Josie, Ellie, and Ben. Dr. Scott also enjoys all sports (mainly OU and the Thunder), hunting behind his bird dogs, and going to the lake. He is a member of the Goldsby Baptist Church, and helps lead worship.
Dr. Stephanie Mendell grew up in Durant, Oklahoma and graduated from Durant High School. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Oklahoma with a bachelors degree in Management Information Systems with a minor in Biology. She graduated with honors from the Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in May of 2010. Dr. Mendell practices full scope primary eye care including ocular disease management, and is PRK certified. She and her husband Dr. Scott currently live in Washington. In her spare time she enjoys being mom to Josie, Ellie, and Ben. Dr. Steph enjoys all sports (mainly OU and the Thunder), spoiling her husband’s bird dogs, entertaining friends, and going to the lake with her family. She is a member of the Goldsby Baptist Church.
Dr. Bales graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine at Oklahoma City in 2003. He specializes in Ophthalmology, including the treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, and other eye diseases. Dr. Bales and his staff have been a welcome addition to our practice. While maintaining his own practice in Norman, he also visits our clinic once per month to provide our cataract patients with treatment options. Dr. Bales lives in Norman, and enjoys spending time with his wife and their children.
Diane started her career with the Pauls Valley Eye Clinic in February 1991. She worked under Dr. Varner until he retired in 2012. She now serves as the office manager. Diane also serves as one of our opticians, and is responsible for ordering all frames and lenses. Diane and her husband James have a son, Brad, a daughter, Beth, a daughter-in-law Julie, and 2 grandchildren, Ella & Hank. Diane loves spending time with her family, working in her yard, and shopping.
Ashley began working at the Pauls Valley Eye Clinic in March 2012. She serves our patients as an Optometric Technician. She is responsible for ensuring that patients receive quick and efficient care. She also assists with diagnostic testing, and is responsible for our in-house edging. Ashley is married to her best friend, Adam. They enjoy spending time with their two daughters, Mili and Audrey. She also enjoys shopping, traveling, 4wheeling, and camping.
Heather began her career at the Pauls Valley Eye Clinic in December 2013. She is responsible for ensuring that our patients receive the benefits their insurance companies have provided for them. Heather, her husband, Chad, and their 2 boys, Luke and Casey, are huge fans of the OKC Thunder, OU Sooners, and Boston Redsox. She enjoys watching her boys play sports, Bunco, traveling, girls night, and weekends at the lake house.
Anna began working at the Pauls Valley Eye Clinic in January 2015 as a patient care coordinator. She now serves our patients as one of our opticians. She enjoys helping patients choose the right frames and lenses to fit their needs. Anna and her husband, Travis, have one daughter, Gracie Mae, and a German Sheprador, Max. Anna loves makeup, music, photography, and reading a good book.
Stacey began her career at the Pauls Valley Eye Clinic in December 2015. She serves our patients as an Optometric Technician. She assists with diagnostic testing, and helps with all contact lens needs, including insertion and removal training. She enjoys shopping, makeup, spending time outdoors, and going to the movies. Stacey also loves spending time with her family and friends.
